Updates tatus Update on Legado Luxury Apartments Fire

On April 1, 2024, at 1:13am, a tragic fire occurred at the construction site of the Legado Luxury Apartments in Prescott Valley, AZ. The apartment site consisted of three multi-level residential wings, a clubhouse, and a multi-level parking garage. Despite the efforts of first responders, who deployed every asset available to them, the structure was a complete loss.

To investigate this incident, a joint task force was formed, including the Prescott Valley Police Department, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, the Yavapai County Attorney’s Investigators Office, Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) National Response Team. To date, a total of eleven agencies have been involved in the ongoing investigation, including the Prescott Fire Department, the Department of Public Safety, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the National Insurance Crime Bureau, and the Department of Homeland Security.

The investigation progressed over several months. Both sworn officers and professional staff logged countless hours of work. Through the investigation, Silent Witness, and the Police Department’s tip line, over 300 leads were generated, each requiring follow-up interviews and further investigation. In total, 25 search warrants were executed across residences and businesses. This is still an open investigation and as new leads or information are obtained, the Prescott Valley Police Department will continue to work to obtain justice and closure for all involved. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Silent Witness to assist in the ongoing investigation. Yavapai Silent Witness is still offering a $45,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
