The Cottonwood Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred on 08-21-2025 between 10:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. at the First Convenience Bank, located inside the Cottonwood Walmart located in the 2000 block E Rodeo Drive in Cottonwood. We are asking for the public’s assistance to identify a person of interest. COTTONWOOD, AZ - SHERIFF’S OFFICE SEARCHING FOR MAN SUSPECTED OF SHOOTING AT A VEHICLE WITH KIDS INSIDE

Around 4 pm Wednesday, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s office responded to a report that a vehicle had been shot at by a driver inside another moving vehicle turning from Western Drive onto Pleasant Valley in Cottonwood. Witnesses say the suspect, identified as Alejandro Pereza-Pasos, knew the driver at whom he allegedly shot. The suspect's vehicle was then located parked at a home in the area of Messai Circle in Cottonwood. YCSO SWAT responded and executed a search warrant to locate the suspect, but he was not found.

Currently, the suspect is still at large, and the sheriff’s office is asking for the public's help in locating him. Is he known to frequent the Cottonwood, Clarkdale and Sedona areas. Updates tatus Update on Legado Luxury Apartments Fire

On April 1, 2024, at 1:13am, a tragic fire occurred at the construction site of the Legado Luxury Apartments in Prescott Valley, AZ. The apartment site consisted of three multi-level residential wings, a clubhouse, and a multi-level parking garage. Despite the efforts of first responders, who deployed every asset available to them, the structure was a complete loss.

To investigate this incident, a joint task force was formed, including the Prescott Valley Police Department, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, the Yavapai County Attorney’s Investigators Office, Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) National Response Team. To date, a total of eleven agencies have been involved in the ongoing investigation, including the Prescott Fire Department, the Department of Public Safety, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the National Insurance Crime Bureau, and the Department of Homeland Security.

The investigation progressed over several months. Both sworn officers and professional staff logged countless hours of work. Through the investigation, Silent Witness, and the Police Department’s tip line, over 300 leads were generated, each requiring follow-up interviews and further investigation. In total, 25 search warrants were executed across residences and businesses. This is still an open investigation and as new leads or information are obtained, the Prescott Valley Police Department will continue to work to obtain justice and closure for all involved. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Silent Witness to assist in the ongoing investigation. Yavapai Silent Witness is still offering a $45,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

YCSO Seeks Public’s Help in Identifying Assault Suspects at Granite Basin

PRESCOTT, AZ – The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man and a woman suspected of being involved in a violent assault on a hiking trail at Granite Basin Lake yesterday morning.

On September 6, 2025, at approximately 8:45 a.m., two hikers on Trail 261 encountered another couple walking with a large brown dog. Following a brief verbal exchange regarding the dog, the male suspect allegedly physically assaulted one of the hikers, punching him multiple times. When the second hiker attempted to intervene, she was attacked by the female suspect.

The suspected assault ended when the male suspect is alleged to have produced a small black handgun and pointed it at one of the victims before he and the female suspect left the area, heading back toward the main parking lot. The victims sustained minor injuries and declined medical transport.

Deputies responded quickly but were unable to locate the suspects, who may have left the area before law enforcement arrived.

Suspects are described as:

• Male: A white male in his 30s or 40s with a thin build and slight facial stubble.

• Female: A white female in her 30s or 40s with long blonde hair. She was seen wearing dark-colored shorts and a white wristwatch.

• The couple was accompanied by a large brown dog.

YCSO is urging anyone who was in the Granite Basin Lake area, including the trails, parking lots, or campgrounds, on the morning of Saturday, September 6th, and may have seen this couple to please come forward.

PRESCOTT VALLEY POLICE SEEK HELP IN SOLVING RECENT VEHICLE BURGLARIES IN GRANVILLE

The Prescott Valley Police Department (PVPD) is seeking help from the public regarding a string of vehicle burglaries occurring in Granville over the past weekend. While some arrests have been made, the PVPD believes that there may be additional victims as unclaimed property has been recovered. If you have experienced a vehicle burglary, please call the non-emergency dispatch line at 928-772-9267 to file a report.

According to suspect statements, many of these crimes were “crimes of opportunity” involving unlocked vehicles. The PVPD reminds citizens to lock their vehicles and secure their homes to reduce the risk of theft.
